One of the most difficult cases we get is moving away cases. It is emotionally hard for both parents when one parent wants to move away with the children. On the one hand, both parents want to live close to their children and be able to see them on a regular basis. On the other hand, one parent may have an extremely good reason for wanting or needing to move. It is important for the parent moving away to have a really good reason if that parent hopes to prevail. We have seen many cases where one parent wants to return to the place where their family lives and have the support of their family once again. We have cases where the parent or a significant other have gotten an amazing job that will benefit the family financially and the job is in another state or a long-distance drive in the same state. These cases are never easy legally and there is no guarantee either way. The presentation to the Court has to be well thought out and carefully prepared whether you are the party that wants to move or you are trying to stop a move. We know how to prepare and advocate for you in this emotionally charged situation.
