I was looking back at all the pictures on my phone. There were several of family gathering. This past summer I was able to see both of my siblings and parents, all my children and grandchildren and a couple nieces and a cousin!
It reminds me that we are a FAMILY law firm and that the extended family can also be affected by divorce. Family is resilient though, and it can weather the storms of many changes and ups and downs, including divorce. My grandkids are able to relate to four sets of grandparents and know who is related to who. I guess the most important thing is that there is plenty of love to go around. Love that is accepting of mistakes and heartaches and failures as well as the triumphs. And as my son in law said so well one night when we were all talking late during our family time, “this is life, this day this time, if you think there is something more to life that you have to get or you have to achieve to be happy and you keep chasing that you are just missing out on this time–and this is your life and what life is all about.” Right here, right now.
Today, I am thankful for the time this year that I got to spend with family, as we are all so busy and the moments are short and far between. I got a few moments this summer, and for that, I feel blessed.
